The Mother Emanuel Memorial Foundation has appointed three new members to its board of directors ahead of the Emanuel Nine Memorial opening this fall.
Chris Singleton is a nationally recognized speaker and bestselling author whose work focuses on resilience, unity, and love over hate. His mother, Reverend Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, was one of the Emanuel Nine.
Joe Campbell is a longtime member of Mother Emanuel’s board of trustees and a recipient of the Emanuel Nine Humanitarian Award. He has been a steady voice for the congregation through the years since 2015.
Kevin Sack is a journalist whose work at The New York Times contributed to three Pulitzer Prizes. He is the author of “Mother Emanuel: Two Centuries of Race, Resistance, and Forgiveness at One Charleston Church.”
“Each brings a meaningful connection to Mother Emanuel and a strong commitment to honoring the Emanuel Nine,” said Executive Director Deona Smith.
We are honored to welcome Chris, Joe, and Kevin to the Mother Emanuel Memorial Foundation board.
