Join Us on November 14
The permanent memorial honoring the Emanuel Nine and the five survivors will open to the public on Saturday, November 14. The Mother Emanuel Memorial Foundation has led this process to create a place to remember the Emanuel Nine and the survivors so that we all learn to build a future rooted in understanding, compassion and love.
We will be sharing more details about this event in the coming weeks and hope that you will put it on your calendar for November.
You can also follow the journey on Instagram and Facebook.
Recent Memorial News
Earlier this year we hosted local media for a preview of the memorial while it was still under construction. The stories helped to remind local and national audiences of the purpose of the memorial and to show that there will be a space for all to pay their respects, reflect and learn how to build a better future.
In August we shared the news that we’ve welcomed three new members to the foundation board of directors. We are honored to have Chris Singleton, Joe Campbell and Kevin Sack share their personal, professional and community connections and expertise in support of our mission.
