The Mother Emanuel Memorial Foundation congratulates President Elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. on becoming the 46th President of the United States.
President Elect Biden is no stranger to Mother Emanuel AME.
Jamila Gadsden, whose aunt Myra Thompson was one of the nine souls lost on June 17, 2015, remembers this about Biden’s visit, “His visit to Mother Emanuel was not for a publicity stunt or a mere photo op. He came to mourn and heal with those who understood the pain of losing a loved one. After losing his son Beau less than a month before the horrific tragedy at Mother Emanuel, he came, he worshipped and he – along with the family and church members – embarked on a journey of healing. I will NEVER forget that.”
